Kate's practice focuses primarily on dispute resolution, including civil litigation, arbitration and mediation. In addition, Kate advises clients with respect to complex statutory regulatory regimes and general corporate issues. A significant part of Kate’s practice is devoted to providing legal services to agribusinesses (including agricultural lenders), livestock industry organizations and producers.
Kate has experience in many areas of civil litigation, including administrative law, municipal law, creditors’ rights, constitutional law, estate litigation, bankruptcy and insolvency, corporate litigation and commercial litigation.
She regularly represents clients at all levels of court in Alberta, and has also appeared in the Federal Court of Canada, the Northwest Territories Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada. Kate holds a Certificate in Arbitration from the Alberta Arbitration and Mediation Society. She is a mediator for the court-annexed Edmonton Civil Claims Mediation Program. She is also a founding member of the Collaborative Estates and Trust Lawyers Society of Alberta.
