Prior to joining Emery Jamieson LLP, Colin clerked at the Court of Queen's Bench in Calgary where he articled to the Honourable Mr. Justice Alan D. Macleod.
Colin has also volunteered with Student Legal Services, Edmonton Community Legal Centre, Civil Claims Duty Counsel and worked for the Health Law Institute at the University of Alberta.
Though Colin is active in many areas of the firm's practice areas, his focus is on assisting clients who are in need of litigation and dispute resolution services in the following areas:
Construction Law - including contact disputes involving mediation/arbitration processes, builders' liens and debt claims;
Commercial Litigation - including shareholder disputes, director's liability issues and commercial leasing disputes;
Employment Law - including with respect to issues of employment termination, progressive discipline, human rights and the duty to accommodate, employees as fiduciaries, non-competition and non-solicitation contracts and providing local legal services regarding inter-provincial and international employment policy compliance issues; and
Administrative Law - including professional regulation and professional disciplinary proceedings.
Through the firm's involvement with Lawyer's Associated Worldwide (LAW) which allows Emery Jamieson LLP to service the legal needs of clients that are expanding their operations and relationships into new domestic and foreign markets, Colin has had personal contact with lawyers from all over the world. With just a phone call or an email he can put clients in touch with lawyers in almost any jurisdiction.
